Welcome to the inaugural issue of D+D In Depth, the new digital monthly from Durability + Design, featuring articles on topics important to specifiers and users of high-performance architectural coatings and related materials.

In this first issue, you will find several of the themes that will recur throughout the year as we publish 48 articles from top industry experts. These themes include focus on building enclosure coatings, found here in the two articles about liquid-applied air barriers and flashing materials; attention to good technical practice, as described in the article by Rich Burgess on assuring that bond breakers and similar materials are removed from concrete before painting; and dissemination of information on new coating standards, here exemplified by the Ken Trimber article on recent standards and guides from the SSPC Commercial Coating committees.

In coming months, look for similar articles on high-performance and multi-functional coating materials, always aimed at providing guidance on selection and use.
