Wagner Spraytech has done away with conventional paint trays for large-volume roller jobs, launching a new powered unit that pumps paint directly from the can to the roller.

The roller can be attached to one- to five-gallon paint containers. A threaded connection allows extension handles.

The Wagner SMART SideKick Multi-Room Powered Roller is designed to speed large painting projects by drawing paint directly into the roller cover with the touch of a button.

Equipped with a 16-foot hose, the SMART SideKick can reach a 400-square-foot work area, the manufacturer says. The click-attach arm fits any size or shape can from one to five gallons. An extension connection accepts standard threaded handles, while the quick-release handle easily accepts roller accessories for trimming

The product can be used with oil and latex-based paints and can be cleaned with soap and water, and the direct-feed delivery promotes drip-free, consistent coverage, according to Wagner. The nine-inch-wide roller has a 3/8-inch nap.
