Sherwin-Williams has rolled out a new wood stain for log home exteriors and has improved its semi-transparent stain for decks.

The company’s new Log Home Stain is designed to deliver “a high-quality satin sheen and varnish-like finish” with enhanced weathering characteristics.

Log Stain

Log Home Stain has UV inhibitors and water-beading properties to help extend the life of the finish.

The water-based product takes four hours to cure, requires two coats to achieve maximum performance, and offers easy cleanup, according to the manufacturer.

Log Home Stain also features UV inhibitors and water-beading properties to help extend the life of the finish, the company says.

Revamped Semi-Transparent Product

The company says it has also improved its Deckscapes Waterborne Semi-Transparent Stain, which is designed to provide "durable protection with a beautiful finished appearance for all exterior horizontal wood surfaces."

Deckscapes can be used to protect and waterproof new or weathered wood. It can also be applied on damp wood, Sherwin-Williams notes.

The stain will not peel or blister at the end of its life cycle, the company adds.

The stains were made available nationwide in April, according to the Cleveland-based manufacturer.
