AEP Span has armed its architectural metal panels with a new graffiti-resistant coating system for use in the commercial and industrial markets.

The factory-applied, graffiti-resistant systems consist of three coats: a primer, color coat, and graffiti-resistant clear coat in two gloss finishes.

The metal panels are coated with a graffiti-resistant coating system that prevents most graffiti material from gripping or shadowing the steel.

Available in all AEP Span paint systems, the product works as a barrier of protection over the steel surface, preventing most graffiti material from gripping or shadowing it, according to the manufacturer.

How it Works

The product is formulated to work with PPG’s DuraPrep Prep 400 graffiti remover.

The manufacturer says that if an AEP Span architectural metal panel is spray painted, the graffiti can be eliminated by applying the graffiti remover directly to the stain, allowing it to sit for 10 to 60 seconds, then wiping it with a clean cloth or scrubbing it with a nylon brush.

Most stains can be removed in 10 minutes or less, according to the company.

Other graffiti can also be removed, including paint overspray, pen and marker ink, tar, lipstick and scuff marks.

About the Company

AEP Span is a business unit of ASC Profiles LLC, a subsidiary of BlueScope Steel and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metals Corp. Based in West Sacramento, CA, the company manufactures architectural metal products, including performance-rated structural roof and siding.

ASC Profiles has two other business units: ASC Steel Deck and ASC Building Products.
