Photos of architectural landmarks or monuments are typically taken either during the day or at night…not both.

Richard Silver's photographs, however, are not typical.

The awe-inspiring collection shows landmarks throughout the day into night. This is the "Birds Nest," a stadium in Beijing, China.

The New York photographer's ongoing series, Time Slice Global, shows in a single image how an icon like The Colosseum in Rome or the Parliament Building in London changes in appearance throughout the day into night.

About 36 images make up a single finished photo. This is The Colosseum in Rome, Italy.

To create the surreal images, Silver sets up a tripod to take about 36 photos of the structures at intervals. He then layers them together using photo editing software to produce the final shot.

There are 19 photos in his global collection. A previous series, New York Sliced, features 37 iconic New York City structures, including Grand Central Station and the Empire State Building.

The Well-Traveled Artist

Silver has traveled to more than 200 cities in his life, 13 in the last year alone.

Another of Silver's creations features the Parliament Building in London, England.

“He loves iconic architecture, whether it's ancient or modern, and is always focused on documenting beautiful structures in each new city he visits,” according to his biography.

The Duomo in Milan, Italy, is the central focus of this photograph.

The artist’s work has been exhibited in museums around the world.
