A Colossus of a Drawing Comes to Life

LONDON--This mesmerizing time-lapse video captures a London artist’s take on the Big Apple.

Patrick Vale created the large-scale drawing, titled Colossus, last winter and posted the video in June.

He was inspired by the view from atop the Rockefeller Center in New York City, according to reports.

The brief video shows how Vale painstakingly sketched thousands of buildings by hand. The intricate illustration took him four months to complete, reports relate.

Bringing the City to Life

“I spent time making rough sketches and taking photographs, but for me working with the video was the most important as it really brought the city to life,” Vale told the Daily Mail.

Colossus is not the only architectural rendering of New York that Vale has completed.

The artist says his love for American architecture has inspired him to move to the U.S. in the coming months, the Daily Mail reports.
