A mega-construction project that aims to once again transform Detroit into a thriving metropolis is underway.

And, now, you can watch it unfold—24 hours a day, seven days a week—through a live-stream video feed on districtdetroit.com, thanks to Olympia Development of Michigan LLC.

The video offers a real-time look at the rapid progress being made on The District Detroit and the new Detroit Events Center.

The live-stream webcam is available on districtdetroit.com, along with a regular time-lapse and daily archive of construction images.

The District Detroit will span 50 blocks and will house businesses, parks, restaurants, bars and event destinations.

A part of the District, the 12-acre events center site includes the new Red Wings' arena, offices, retail facilities and more, according to the developers.

Rapid Progress

“With mass excavation complete and concrete being poured on site right now, we are on track to open the new Detroit arena for the 2017 NHL season,” said Steve Marquardt, VP of Olympia Development.

“As we continue our aggressive schedule on the arena and accompanying developments, more than $115 million in contracts have been awarded to Detroit-based businesses,” he added.

In addition to the live stream, a regular time-lapse and daily archive of images will also be available on the site.

Construction of the arena and surrounding District is expected to generate at least $1.8 billion in total economic impact, 8,300 construction and construction-related jobs and 1,100 permanent jobs, according to the developers.
