Gaco Western has developed a single-component, water-based sealer that the company says protects silicone roofs from asphalt bleed-through.

GacoFlex A4207 BleedTrap captures oil that commonly runs from roofing substrates containing bitumen, including built-up roofing (BUR), ModBit and smooth or granulated asphaltic roofing membranes, the company says.

GacoFlex A4207 BleedTrap captures oil that commonly runs from roofing substrates containing bitumen, manufacturer Gaco Western says.

After BleedTrap is applied, the oils and plasticizers that can migrate to a roof’s surface become trapped inside the sealer to help prevent bleed-through, according to Gaco Western. The product helps eliminate discoloration or staining on the roof.

Also, the company says, BleedTrap’s film buildup provides a smoother surface for easy top coat application of solvent-free silicone coatings.
