An Ohio-based company recently introduced two new building envelope sealing systems.

Aeroseal said one of its systems is the first automated system designed to find and seal building air leaks, while the other aids in quickly setting up a duct-sealing job.

Automated Sealing System

Aeroseal said the new automated product uses a compressed nitrogen system to push sealant through multiple nozzles. The nitrogen is then sprayed into a pressurized structure, which draws the sealant into cracks or leaks—including around walls, doors and windows—in a building envelope.

Aeroseal has introduced what it said is the first automated system designed to find and seal building air leaks, as well as a mobile system for wirelessly controlling duct sealing equipment.

The particles of the sealant then bond around the holes and to each other until the leaks are completely sealed, according to Aeroseal.

The company said it takes about one hour to seal a 1,200-square-foot house.

The technology was designed by Mark Modera, a professor at the University of California Davis and director of the university’s Western Cooling Efficiency Center, the company said. It also said the technology could be available for commercial use by the end of 2016.

Mobile Duct Sealing System

The second system, called Mobile PRO, combines the company’s wireless duct sealing system with a pre-assembled equipment trailer. Unlike Aeroseal’s previous systems, the Mobil PRO allows duct sealing contractors to use the pre-assembled trailer and manage the installation with a wireless tablet.

The company said the Mobile PRO product saves time and increases profitability for its customers.
