A new art studio at a university in Dorset, UK, is making a big splash.

The blue, prefabricated curvaceous structure at the Arts University Bournemouth campus “looks like a giant whale,” inhabitat reports.

Washed ashore: this prefabricated building serves as a drawing studio for university students.

A timelapse of the project, completed this year, appears below.

Designed by CRAB Studio, the building is clad in 17 painted blue steel panels and features large skylights to provide ample light for drawing classes.

Inhabitat says glass reinforced gypsum is one of the primary building materials used to insulate the beast, err... building.

My apologies to the architectural crew on this one....I'm sure it is a very functional building for its intended purpose. But...that first picture in the article made me laugh. The picture from that particular angle brought to mind the shape (oversized, mind you) of a portable blue urinal like what you see in ambulances and hospitals. I'm sorry....but it was too much not to share.

A whale? Either we don't have a good picture of that (even in the additional sites), or artistic liberties were taken with that one.
