A new collection from Karndean Designflooring (Export, PA) takes some colors and patterns that were already available and puts a geometric spin on them, creating novel formats that the company says can be installed in residential or commercial buildings.

Karndean’s Kaleidoscope collection features bold geometric designs, such as “Tripoint” (tessellated triangles) and “Cubix” (cubes that take on a 3-D appearance). The shapes are made up of component pieces that are colors that were already available from Karndean as more traditional tile shapes.

Wear Layers

The designs, cut from original Karndean flooring, come with polyurethane wear layers that, depending on the specific tile used, range from 12 to 30 mils, according to the manufacturer. Most of the available tile finishes have an R10 slip resistance rating, and are recommended for residential or commercial use, including in hospitals and restaurants.

The designs can be made up of a number of different Karndean tiles, leaving the consumer to choose what different colors and styles work best together for the application. Karndean tiles come in wood, stone and solid colors. There are a total of six geometric designs the tiles can be shaped into.

In addition, the Kaledoscope collection tiles are installed using adhesives that are low-VOC and qualify for LEED credits, Karndean says.
