An argument over tardiness and work performance reportedly turned violent for one Boston painting contractor and his employee.

The Sun Chronicle reports that Emil G. Manukian, 36, allegedly hit an employee over the head with a level during an argument before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 23) at a residential jobsite in Attleboro, MA.

The alleged altercation took place at a residential job site just south of Boston.

Though not identified by name, the alleged victim—a 46-year-old male—phoned police following the incident. He suffered a cut on this head and was transported via ambulance for treatment at a nearby hospital, the report said.

Manukian told the police he acted in self-defense as the argument escalated, according to The Sun Chronicle.

Manukian was said to have been charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and was released on $300 cash bail after an initial appearance in Attleboro District Court Tuesday (Aug. 23) afternoon.

Additional details on the case were not available Wednesday (Aug. 24) morning.
