Lapolla Industries Inc. (Houston) has introduced a new exterior elastomeric wall coating for waterproofing commercial structures.

WALL-LOK is described as an acrylic-based coating and sealer system that acts as both an effective waterproofing and UV protective barrier.

The company recommends WALL-LOK for existing apartment complexes, industrial facilities, retail properties and office buildings.

The company’s president and CEO Doug Kramer says the product was developed to aid building owners in combating moisture intrusion, enhancing curb appeal and extending the longevity of their buildings.

The product is recommended for use on brick, concrete, masonry and exterior insulation finishing systems. The company suggests application on existing apartment complexes, industrial facilities, retail properties and office buildings.

The coating and sealer combine to form a durable film on the surface of the building, the company says. The coating blocks the formation of harmful mold, algae and mildew by eliminating moisture migration into the vertical and horizontal grout line of walls, protecting valuable inventories from damage, the company says.

Additionally, WALL-LOK prevents mortar from crumbling due to water penetration, as well as inhibits salt stains and the rusting of steel and iron, Lapolla says.

Billed as a “high-performance product,” the flexible coating also contains reflective material that shields the structure from harmful ultraviolet rays, which are a common cause of both exterior color fading and degradation and the transfer of heat into the building, according to the company.

The product is available in a variety of colors including shades of white, tan and gray. Custom colors are also available, the company says.
