More items for Maintenance + Renovation

For one marijuana factory in Scotland, the smell of fresh paint just couldn’t mask the drug’s powerful odor.

But it wasn’t for lack of trying. Reports said two men spent five hours a day, Monday through Friday, painting and repainting an Edinburgh building in an attempt to conceal an illegal operation going on behind the walls.

Two men reportedly painted this building day in and day out in an attempt to conceal the pungent cannabis plant smell coming from the growing operation inside.

The paint job was undone when the police raided the cream-colored shop earlier this month to find 60 plants worth £25,000 ($38,165 USD) growing inside, reports said. The group thought to be responsible was the “Dopey” drug gang.

Curious Neighbors

Neighbors said they had been curious about the seemingly endless renovations going on at the property.

Sixty plants were discovered inside the building, reports say.

“We were wondering what was going on, because two men were painting the outside of the shop every day,” Muhammed Imran, 35, who runs a nearby store, told the Daily Record.

“They did not appear to be professional painters. They were just wearing jeans and things.

“I think some people in the street had noticed the smell. They were obviously hoping that the fresh paint smell would cover it up.”

The property, a former real estate agency office, was owned by S&D Properties. The owner told the Daily Record that an Edinburgh couple had recently leased the building to turn it into a “modern antiques shop.”
