The Village of Bloomingdale, IL, is inviting commercial contractors to take a swing at painting the town's clubhouse.

Bids for exterior painting of the Bloomingdale Golf Club clubhouse are due July 10. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held June 27.

Scope of Work

The project calls for cleaning and painting of the clubhouse exterior, including wood trim, soffits, fascia, overhangs, wood stairways, temporary and permanent lattice, doors, door and window frames, EIFS, and metal railings.

The contractor will pressure-wash or water-blast all surfaces before coating application and dry-brush previously painted surfaces to remove dust, dirt and cobwebs. Substrates with loose paint or stain will be scraped.

The project involves pressure washing, cleaning, scraping and coating.

The contractor should clean any mildewed surfaces with a bleach and water solution before coating.

Steel doors will be coated with one coat of synthetic rust-inhibiting primer and two finish coats of high-gloss alkyd enamel. Wood surfaces that were previously stained will be coated with a semi-transparent alkyd stain.

According to the project documents, all paint and stain colors should match the existing coatings, and the same company should manufacture all primers and coordinating top coats.

About the Clubhouse

The 13,000-square-foot brick, stone and cedar-sided clubhouse at Bloomingdale Golf Course features a wraparound veranda and floor-to-ceiling windows. The building houses a bar and grill, a golf shop, a ballroom, and other event space.

Built in 1924 as the Glendale Golf Course, the course and facilities were purchased by the Village of Bloomingdale in 1996 and renovated in 1998.
